Roadmap and status

Aleph is pre-1.0. This page is the honest list of what exists in the language today, and what's planned.

Available today

AreaWhat exists
AuthPer-route rules: public, signed-in, org members by role, API keys by scope. Caller profiles and a user directory
DataEntities with ordered keys; unique, partial, and computed indexes; prefix, range, and anyOf queries; cursor pagination; counters (count, sum, min/max, distinct, sharded, time-bucketed); invariants; versioned rows; row expiry; parent/child relations with cascading deletes; schema evolution checks; file buckets with signed upload and download URLs, size and type limits, and upload handlers
ComputeRoutes with full HTTP control; bounded logic, including loops that carry state; events, entity triggers, queues with retries and dead letters, keyed and delayed jobs, interval and calendar schedules, batch scans; durable workflows
IntegrationsDeclared calls (journaled) and sends (after commit); signed webhooks (HMAC, Stripe, GitHub) with dedupe
API surfaceInferred and declared response types, typed clients, OpenAPI, MCP tools
Packages@aleph-lang/sdk and @aleph-lang/cli on npm, released from tagged commits
VerifyingRoute examples and aleph test; aleph dev with watch, seeds, persistent data, mocks, and an inspector
GuaranteesStatic bounds on 7 resources, enforced by a runtime meter; trigger-cycle detection; tenant isolation; differential tests over 100,000 generated plans on every full check run

Not in the language yet

AreaPlanned
AuthDeclaring sign-in methods (email and password, magic links, OAuth) and org management in the manifest. Today the runtime authenticates callers and passes them in
DataMaterialized views beyond counters; "drop after N days" for deprecated fields
ComputeStreaming responses (for LLM routes); delivering realtime channel messages to subscribers (publishing exists)
IntegrationsDeclared hosts with timeouts for generic HTTP; OAuth connections on behalf of users; built-in providers (email, payments)
CapabilitiesNative capabilities (LLM calls with tools, vector search, full-text search) and reusable components (chat, notifications, subscriptions, audit log)
ToolingA language server, a visual explorer of what a request can use and trigger, and generated clients in more languages
FormatFreezing the manifest format, with a versioning policy
